Where to Stay — Marina by Marina

Pick the dock first, then the bed. On an island this narrow, which marina you are walking out of decides more about your trip than the room does.

Every Bimini lodging comparison you will find online covers the same four properties. That is not because there are four; it is because four of them have booking programmes. We hold thirteen places to stay and nine separate marina facilities, and the interesting decisions live among the ones nobody writes about.

The geography does most of the work. North Bimini is a hook about seven and a half miles long with three settlements running into each other — Alice Town at the southern tip, then Bailey Town, then Porgy Bay — and only signage marking where one ends. Alice Town is the historic centre and the walkable one: the Bimini Big Game Club, Blue Water, Sea Crest, Brown's and Weech's are all down there, along with most of the bars. Resorts World Bimini and the Hilton sit north of that as a single large complex with the biggest marina in the Bahamas attached. South Bimini is quieter, has the airport, and is a ferry hop away from everything else.

The naming is a genuine mess and we would rather flag it than tidy it up dishonestly. Bimini Bay Marina, Fisherman's Village and Mega Marina all appear under separate branding in the same stretch of water, and Bimini Cove Resort was until recently Bimini Sands, with both names still circulating. Until someone has phoned each dockmaster and established which are the same facility, we are not publishing a confident answer about how many marinas Bimini actually has.

A few honest notes before you book. We carry Google ratings and review counts on the listings and we show the unflattering ones, but a rating built on eleven reviews is not evidence of much either way. Several small properties have almost no review data at all and may not currently be trading — Bimini Blue Water in particular has a marina that cruising guides still list and a hotel whose status we have not confirmed. And no rate bands appear anywhere in this section, because we have not been quoted any.

Start with the full lodging list or work backwards fromthe marinas themselves.
